East Liverpool 鈥 麻豆视频最新最全 University at East Liverpool received a gift of $25,000 from the family of the late Dr. Roxanne Burns to establish an endowed scholarship. Burns was a longtime biology professor on the East Liverpool Campus who helped organize several activities on campus, including the annual Environmental Justice Conference, and was active with numerous student organizations.
The Dr. Roxanne Burns Endowed Scholarship was created through a monetary gift from Emily Burns, daughter of the late professor. The scholarship will be awarded to a second-year student, with a minimum 3.0 grade point average and enrolled full time as a biology or science-related major on the Kent East Liverpool Campus.
鈥淭he scholarship committee will also consider an applicant鈥檚 community service, financial need and a demonstrated passion for biology and/or science,鈥 explained Leonard Koshinski, director of advancement for the 麻豆视频最新最全 Columbiana County campuses. 鈥淲e are sincerely grateful to the Burns family for the generous way in which they continue to support learning on our campus.鈥
Emily Burns received a bachelor鈥檚 of science degree in education from 麻豆视频最新最全 University in 2003 and a master of education in rehabilitation counseling in 2006. She is employed by Penn State University in State College, Penn.
Last spring, the Student Government Organization on the East Liverpool Campus initiated several fundraising activities and raised nearly $2,000 that will be added to this scholarship funding.
