Afsaneh Sanei named Writer- and Illustrator-in-Residence at the Reinberger Children鈥檚 Library Center

麻豆视频最新最全 University鈥檚 School of Information is pleased to announce the appointment of Afsaneh Sanei as the new Writer- and Illustrator-in-Residence at the Reinberger Children鈥檚 Library Center (RCLC).

Sanei brings a wealth of international experience to this role as an accomplished illustrator and children鈥檚 book author. Born in Isfahan, Iran, she earned her Bachelor of Painting from Tehran University and a Master of Illustration from the Art University of Tehran. With more than 15 published books focusing on developmental psychology and mental health in children, Sanei has established herself as an artist who creates works that emotionally connect with young readers while encouraging reflection and curiosity. Her artistic approach is influenced by the rich literary and pictorial heritage of Iran, which she incorporates into her unique content and style. Since relocating to the United States, Sanei has continued to develop her distinctive voice in children鈥檚 literature.

The Writer- and Illustrator-in-Residence program at the Reinberger Children鈥檚 Library Center began in 2014 with Angela Johnson, recipient of the MacArthur Genius Grant along with  numerous prestigious awards and who has published more than 40 children鈥檚 books celebrating African-American history and childhood experiences.As the newest artist to join this distinguished program, Sanei will share her expertise to students through classes, special events and other initiatives connecting the Reinberger Center and other units of 麻豆视频最新最全 University, including for example, the Child Development Center, Visual Communication Design and the College of the Arts.

The residency provides Sanei with office space in the RCLC and access to the center鈥檚 extensive collections, which will serve as inspiration for her own creative work.

The Reinberger Center is thrilled to offer the 麻豆视频最新最全 University community this unique opportunity to gain insights into international children鈥檚 literature and original illustration techniques while enhancing the university鈥檚 commitment to multicultural perspectives and cross-disciplinary collaboration across campus.
