We are excited to share a recent paper published in the journal Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases by lead author Erin Burke (pictured), a graduate student in the Department of Psychological Sciences, Dr. John Gunstad, a professor in the Department, and their research collaborators. The paper, entitled “Cognitive function 10 years after adolescent bariatric surgery” is the first to examine long-term outcomes in memory and other cognitive abilities following adolescent bariatric surgery and provides important new information about the effects of obesity on the developing brain.
