Admission Requirements
Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« University College of Podiatric Medicine (KSUCPM) takes a holistic approach to reviewing applicants, considering academic performance, standardized exam scores, and extracurricular involvement. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is recommended in overall, science, and organic chemistry coursework. However, the Admissions Committee carefully evaluates course loads and extracurricular commitments when determining interview invitations.
AACPMAS Application
KSUCPM participates in the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine Application Service (). All application materials, including transcripts and letters of recommendation, must be submitted through AACPMAS.
Required Coursework
Most applicants complete a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution before matriculation. However, candidates may apply with a minimum of 90 semester hours of undergraduate coursework, including the following prerequisites:
- Biology – 8 semester or 12 quarter hours (with labs)
- General Chemistry – 8 semester or 12 quarter hours (with labs)
- Organic Chemistry – 8 semester or 12 quarter hours (with labs) (Biochemistry may be used as a substitute)
- Physics – 8 semester or 12 quarter hours (with labs)
- English – 6 semester or 9 quarter hours (English, communications, or other writing-intensive courses are accepted)
To strengthen your foundation for podiatric medical school, we recommend anatomy & physiology, biochemistry, genetics, medical terminology, and microbiology.
Applicants may apply while coursework is still in progress, but all prerequisite courses must be completed before matriculation.
Standardized Exam Requirement
Applicants must take the MCAT or DAT within three years of the application cycle. Candidates may apply before receiving their MCAT or DAT score, and interviews may be granted prior to the receipt of exam results. However, a standardized test score must be submitted before an admission decision is finalized.
Letters of Recommendation
KSUCPM requires the following letters of recommendation which must be submitted prior to matriculation:
- one letter from a faculty member, advisor or composite letter from a pre-medical advisory committee
- one a letter from a DPM or other medical professional
Candidates may send additional letters of recommendation, but it is not required. Candidates can send letters of recommendation through , submit them with the AACPMAS application, or mail them directly to KSUCPM.
Interview Process
Competitive applicants will be invited to interview for a seat in the upcoming class. Interviews are required before an offer of admission can be extended. A standardized test score must be received before an admission decision is finalized.

Background Check & Drug Screening
All accepted students must complete a criminal background check and drug screening through KSUCPM’s preferred vendor before matriculation.
