The COVID-19 pandemic halted �鶹��Ƶ������ȫ University’s plans for the 2020 Environmental Science and Design Symposium, but it hasn’t impeded the spirit of the conference.

The words “biology” and “design” might not typically intertwine; however, �鶹��Ƶ������ȫ University’s Biodesign Challenge course was created to challenge the idea that the two separate disciplines could not collaborate.

Ten �鶹��Ƶ������ȫ University students were awarded $1,000 each for their creative use of videos, podcasts and Adobe Spark® pages to reflect on the events of May 4, 1970, as part of the university’s Design Innovation Common Reading Challenge

Thirteen cross-disciplinary teams presented in the �鶹��Ƶ������ȫ competition for Mission:Life on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.

�鶹��Ƶ������ȫ University and the Opera di Santa Croce in Florence, Italy, will celebrate a collaborative partnership around the creation of “Sisters in Liberty: From Florence, Italy, to New York, New York,” an exhibition opening on Oct. 17, 2019, and running through April 26, 2020, at the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration on Ellis Island in New York. 

�鶹��Ƶ������ȫ’s Design Innovation Hub is setting the stage for transformative research and innovation across disciplines.

�鶹��Ƶ������ȫ’s makerspaces, which number more than 25 across the eight-campus system, was named the top program in Ohio and entered the top 10 by surpassing programs at schools such as the University of Southern California, Arizona State University, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Harvard University.

�鶹��Ƶ������ȫ University celebrated the launch of a dynamic new space, the Design Innovation (DI) Hub, which will bring innovations from many disciplines together in a 68,000-square-foot building near the center of the Kent Campus.
