Criteria, performance expectations, and Department procedures relating to Faculty Excellence Awards

Overview

Faculty Excellence Awards are established pursuant to the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Procedures and timelines for determining Faculty Excellence Awards for any given year shall be conducted in accordance with guidelines issued by the Office of the Provost.

Research Activity Evaluation Metrics

FAC will rank Faculty Research Excellence by addition of points derived from the tables below.

Publication Points	Indicator
2n	n high quality papers published in top tier journals during review period
n	n high quality papers published in middle tier journals during review period

Grant Points	Indicator
3n	n extramural grants awarded or held during review period, each exceeding $15,000 annually
1	At least one extramural grant proposal every 2 years of review period, each exceeding $15,000 annually

Discipline Impact Points	Indicator
n	Editor of n top tier journals
n	Organizer of n high quality international conferences
n/2	Presenter at n high quality international conferences

Graduate Program Points	Indicator
2n	n �鶹��Ƶ��ȫ doctoral dissertations directed to completion in review period
n/2	n �鶹��Ƶ��ȫ Master’s theses directed to completion in review period

FAC will rank Faculty Teaching Excellence by addition of points derived from the tables below.

Student Perception Points	Indicator
6	Student perceptions consistently better than norms
2	Student perceptions consistently close to norms

Student Research Points	Indicator
2n	n research projects with/direction of graduate or undergraduate students that result in publications in peer reviewed journals
n	n research projects with/direction of graduate or undergraduate students

Innovation and Award Points	Activity
1 point for each activity listed on the right	Publishes pedagogical research in peer reviewed journals Develops new or revised courses or curriculum Demonstrates awareness of and implements innovative pedagogical techniques (including appropriate use of technology) Receives College, Campus, or University Distinguished Teaching Award
