Playing Games, Petting Pups: Stress-Free Zone Offers Much-Needed Break for Finals Week

What could be better to reduce end-of-semester stress than petting a dog? How about petting multiple dogs and digitally dunking with LeBron through esports? This year’s Stress-Free Zone, which is from 3-5 p.m. on Dec. 9 and 10, will be hosted on the first floor of University Library and will feature esports, therapy dogs, makerspace activities and more.

The grant is designed to benefit the entire Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« Geauga student body with the establishment of a new Mental Health and Wellness Center.

Traumatic injuries are the third leading cause of death nationally and the first in Americans age 44 and younger, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Level I trauma rooms are intended to stabilize and save the lives of patients with the most severe traumatic injuries. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has awarded a $2.47 million grant to Sara Bayramzadeh, a Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« University researcher, to help create trauma rooms that support staff in saving patients’ lives.
