Suzy D鈥橢nbeau, Ph.D., associate professor in the School of Communication Studies, was recently featured on 鈥淒r. Phil鈥 podcast 鈥淧hil in The Blanks鈥 for her expertise on pronouns and the power of language.
D鈥橢nbeau specifically covered how humans in a society must work consistently to accept new terminology that makes others feel comfortable.
鈥淚t's so important for people to understand that they program themselves mentally, physically, and physiologically with the words they use,鈥 she said on the podcast.
D鈥橢nbeau teaches organizational communication, gender and communication, sex and communication and qualitative methods in the College of Communication and Information.
When she teaches, she wants her students to have the ability to have discussions like she did on Phil in The Blanks.
